In April, Southern California skywatchers can enjoy several celestial events: The Great North American Eclipse: Southern California residents will have a 40% view of the April 8th eclipse. This also coincides with the April New Moon which is perfect for stargazing. Lyrid Meteor Shower: Peaking around April 22nd, the Lyrids are known for their bright meteors, with up to 20 meteors per hour visible under ideal conditions. Pink Supermoon: On April 16th, the full moon coincides with its closest approach to Earth, appearing larger and brighter than usual. While not a rare event, it's a stunning sight to behold. The Eta Aquariids Meteor Shower: Although the peak occurs in early May, you may catch some early meteors from this shower towards the end of April. It's known for its fast and often bright meteors. Stargazing: April nights offer excellent opportunities for stargazing due to clearer skies and warmer temperatures. Look out for constellations like Orion, Taurus, and Leo, as well as bright planets like Venus and Mars.

The climate in Wonder Valley swings wildly from one extreme to the next. From freezing nights to scorching days, windstorms, sandstorms, dust devils, torrential rain and even the rare blanket of snow. We personally enjoy them all, but it takes a toll on the domes especially the clear vinyl windows. This summer we plan on replacing all the windows and skylights so our guests can enjoy the beautiful view.
